Half plant, half animal, these creatures attach to the seabed with a stalk, collecting food with their arms. Also known as Sea Lilies.  Some become free-swimming as adults. They live in depths down to 6000 metres. They have been around for approx 490 million years. This specimen is from the Gulf of Mexico. (Thanks Wikipedia)
