Fossilised Bone

Fascinating remains of some of the largest marine reptiles that lived in the Jurassic coast area. The Ichthyosaur resembled a large, but extremely fierce, dolphin and lived 245-90 million years ago.  The long-necked Plesiosaur with its huge flippers lived 199-65 million years ago.  Without the fossils, we would never have known they existed.  Diagram is of Coneybeare's reconstruction in 1824.
