About Us

We started the business as a hobby in 1995, selling fossils, minerals and jewellery at car boots, then progressing to fairs and markets as we learned our trade.

We ended up exhibiting at the Rock n Gem Shows for several years.  In 2004,  the opportunity of a shop in Lyme Regis came up so we decided to take the plunge and devote ourselves full time to the business.

Here is Mike in the shop.

We have had a lot of fun along the way, worked hard, learned a lot, and made some mistakes, but always enjoyed being in charge of our own business.

We now feel the time is right to launch into the internet and try our luck in this enormous market place.

We love living in Lyme Regis with its friendly town and beautiful coast and countryside.

The two main fossiling beaches of Lyme Regis are Monmouth - on past the Cobb arm to the west - and Black Ven to the east - the largest landslip in Europe.  The village and beach of Charmouth and Seatown, from where you can access Golden Cap beach, are within easy reach - both good fossiling areas. If you fancy going a little further afield, try Burton Bradstock with its amazing sandy-coloured cliffs ribbed with limestone - all the fossils you find there will be yellow/brown in colour.

Fossils to be found in Dorset range from ammonites, belemnites, crinoid (sea lily stems/heads), echinoids (sea urchins),  to fish scales, icthyosaur bone and even scelidosaur bone - from the one dinosaur species found in this area

For the history of Lyme Regis, spend some time at the Philpott Museum in town where you can learn some fascinating facts.
