The only one of these we have ever had. A Dactylioceras commune ammonite fossilised inside a large iron pyrite nodule. Found in Yorksire, UK, and approx 180 million years old. The outside has been highly polished to display the 'fools gold'. Two halves 'pop' open to reveal a perfectly preserved ammonite with sharp detailed ribs right to the centre. You can see chisel marks where the nodule was opened. Ammonite measures approx: 5.5 x 4.8 cm. Nodule measures approx: H 8 x W 11 x D 10.5 cm.
