This is an Aegastoceras species Ammonite on matrix. This rare ammonite measures H 8 x W 9.5 cm. The block measures H 16 x W 13 cm and a flat base has been cut for ease of display. The ammonite shows very pronounced ribs and a good centre. The block itself is full of fossil bivalve shell remnants both back and front. This ammonite is from the Jurassic era (approx 200 million years old) and was found at Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.
